Comments
When you leave a comment, the data entered in the form — name, email address, website if given and the message itself — is stored, along with your IP address and browser identifier. Those last two are used solely to detect spam.
An anonymised string derived from your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you have an avatar there. Once your comment is approved, your avatar is publicly visible beside it.
Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely, so that follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically.
Media
If you upload an image to this site, avoid sending files containing location data (EXIF GPS): a visitor could extract it.
Cookies
This site sets a small number of cookies, all of them necessary for it to work:
- Language choice — remembers which language version you are reading, so you are not redirected on every visit. Duration: 24 hours.
- Comments — if you leave a comment, your name, email address and website are saved in cookies so you do not have to type them again. Duration: one year.
- Login — for administrator accounts only.
This site uses no advertising cookies, no behavioural tracking and no audience measurement such as Google Analytics.
